Glen Turvey
I have always required a blend of the creative, the technical, and the interpersonal to
be truly satisfied with my life. I began my professional life in Engineering, worked as a
Product Manager with an innovative electronics manufacturer, moved to Adelaide as a State
Sales Manager, before moving into Tourism.
I did Certificate III's in Tour and Eco-Adventure Guiding, and (just for good measure) a
Diploma of Art & Design majoring in Photography.
I recently returned from a ski traverse of the Southern Patagonian Ice Cap, and you can
find out more about the trip, me and my photography at www.glenturvey.com
How many years have you worked in outdoor recreation?
4 years.
Favourite part of the world
New Zealand's South Island. May become home one day...
Favourite food
Sea food - I could happily live by a beach!
Best habit
I respond to all my emails.
Worst habit
Responding to too many emails!
Best part of my day
Dawn & Dusk - the "time between times". Lovely light, often still, a time of transitions...
Worst part of my Day
Just after lunch. Would be fine if I could doze off for an hour or so!
Preferred season
In Tasmania; Autumn
Favourite way to unwind
On my own or with one other person. A chat by the beach, playing guitar, or perhaps taking the camera for a walk.
If you could be a Crayon, what colour would you be?
Dark blue / grey. The moody colour you get in the sky when a change is in the wind.
Favourite Hobart restaurant:
Raincheck - the perfect place for business, meeting friends, or just hanging out.
Favourite music, artist or song:
It changes of course, but for now Idea of North - an Australian a capella group.
Favourite word/phrase:
"When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old
man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned."
Mark Twain
